The Script guitarist Mark Sheehan has died at the age of 46, the band has confirmed.
The musician, songwriter and producer died in hospital after a short illness, his family asked for privacy.
A statement released on social media by the Irish band read: “Mark Sheehan, loving husband, father, brother, bandmate and friend, passed away today in hospital after a short illness.
‘The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.’
Last year it was reported that Sheehan had not appeared on The Script’s world tour with bandmates Danny O’Donoghue and Glen Power for months.
‘The band isn’t available for comment but on the band’s socials they mention he is spending time with his family currently,’ a spokesperson told the Sunday World at the time.
