
A man has lost his life following a crash between a motorcycle and a car in County Monaghan.
Emergency responders attended the scene on the R190 near Lisnalong.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the location. His remains have been transferred to the mortuary at Cavan General Hospital, reports The Mirror.
The local coroner has been informed, and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled.
The R190 road linking Ballybay and Cootehill remains shut this evening as a forensic investigation is carried out. Traffic is being diverted locally, reports The Mirror.
Gardaà are requesting that any witnesses or individuals with information come forward.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaà in Co Monaghan are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Monday, 16th June 2025. At around 1:20pm, Gardaà were alerted to a collision on the R190 at Lisnalong. The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the mortuary at Cavan General Hospital,” reports The Mirror.
“The R190 between Ballybay and Cootehill remains closed for the scene to be examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local traffic diversions are in place. The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination,” reports The Mirror.
“Gardaà are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Road users who may have relevant camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the area between 1pm and 1:30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating GardaÃ,” reports The Mirror.
