
Tributes have been paid to a teenager and gifted athlete who tragically died following a car crash over the weekend.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon along the L1029 road at Deerpark, Lixnaw, reports Breaking News.
The teenager, who was driving alone, was in his late teens and was flown by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital, where he passed away on Wednesday. There were no reports of other injuries, and no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
He has been identified locally as Aidan Forristal, originally from the north Kerry parish of Lisnax, reports Breaking News.

Parish Priest Fr Anthony O’Sullivan paid tribute, saying “the entire community are devastated at the news of the death of a fine young man.”.
Locals described Aidan as an enthusiastic athlete who played hurling with the Lisnax GAA club. Out of respect, all training sessions at the club have been called off for the week, reports Breaking News.
John McElliogtt, chair of the Lisnax Club, said: “He was a lovely young lad to deal with. He usually played in the forwards and would always chip in with a few scores,” reports Breaking News.
His family is also recognised within local athletics circles. The community has been offering support to Aidan’s parents, William and Tara, as well as his siblings.
Gardaà are asking for witnesses to come forward, particularly motorists with dash-cam footage who were in the area on August 2nd between 5:15pm and 5:45pm, to contact Listowel Garda Station on 068 50820, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any local garda station, reports Breaking News.
Funeral details have not yet been released but are expected to be announced later on Friday. Mr Forristal is the 98th person to lose their life on Irish roads this year, reports Breaking News.
