The well known 98FM sports presenter Johnny Lyons was found dead at his home in Dublin today. It is understood he had been off work with a broken ankle, and was due to return to the station next week.
Colleagues had difficulties in contacting him over the last couple of days, so they went to his apartment in Dublin city this evening, where they made the grim discovery.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed, but it is believed no foul play is involved in the event.
Tributes have been pouring in from work colleagues and friends. Mr. Lyons had been a key member of the sports team at 98FM for the last two decades.
The station’s chief executive, Keith McCormack, has expressed his sympathies to the family, saying the entire station was devastated at the news.
“He was a huge part of the 98FM family and will be dearly missed,” Mr. McCormack said.
