Tributes pour in for Laois GAA player who sadly passed away aged 15

The entire GAA community is saddened by the sad news of the death of Ronan McNamara, reports The Mirror.

Ronan, a keen sportsman who represented his club in both the GAA and rugby union, died this week aged 15.

The youngster played for the GAA for Laois club Stradbally Parish Gaels and was a member of their minor squad. He also featured for the Portlaoise Rugby Club.

Stradbally Parish Gaels paid tribute to young Ronan on social media on Friday, whom they described as “special young man”.

The statement reads: “As you are all aware by now today we lost a very special young man Ronan McNamara who was a member of our minor squad. Only last Sunday Ronan lined out with his teammates and gave his all as he has always done for the team. Ronan was a smashing young man & it was an honour and privilege to have been part of his journey,” reports The Mirror.

“We are all heartbroken for Ronan his dad Paul his mam Yvonne his sister Orlaith all the McNamara & Smyth families & friends. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace Ronan. “Ar Dheis De go Raibh a Anam.” As you are all aware by now, today we lost a very special young man Ronan McNamara who was a member of our minor squad, Ronan was part of last year’s U-16s team. The U-16s squad are meeting at the clubhouse in Togher to give each other support and to remember their team mate. May Ronan rest in peace,” the statement continues, reports The Mirror.
