
A man in his 90s has died following a car crash in Co Laois today.
Emergency services responded to reports of the incident on the R433, Tullyroe, Abbeyleix, at around 10am, reports RTE.
The car, driven by the man in his 90s, left the road and struck a second parked car.
The second car was unoccupied at the time and no other injuries were reported, reports RTE.
The elderly man was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise, where he was later pronounced dead.
The coroner has been notified, reports RTE.
The road was closed for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to road users who may have camera footage and were travelling on the R433 near Tullyroe, Abbeyleix, between 9.30am and 10.15am this morning, to make it available to them, reports RTE.
