Tributes have poured in from across the political divide for Sinn Fein’s Martin McGuinness who died this morning aged 66.

McGuinness was surrounded by his family at Derry’s Altnagelvin Hospital when he died in the early hours of this morning after being diagnosed with a rare heart disease in December.

Formally a member of the IRA’s Army Council, he became Sinn Féin’s chief negotiator in the peace process leading to a role as deputy leader in 2007.

Tributes have come in from both North and South of the border including the Taoiseach who said McGuinness fought to the end. DUP leaders also sent their condolences along with Ian Paisley Jn and former first leader, Peter Robinson.
