Tributes pour in for three young people tragically killed in a car crash on New Year’s Eve

Three people were killed in a two-car collision in Co Meath.

Gardaí said the accident occurred around 4:25pm on New Year’s Eve on the N52 in Kells.

The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her twenties, and a passenger, a man, also in his twenties, were killed. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man died while being rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

Their names have been released as Saoirse Corrigan and Shane Gilchrist, both from Castlepollard, Westmeath.

A woman in her early twenties who was driving the second car was admitted to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, seriously injured, but was later pronounced dead.

A 12-yr-old boy was also badly injured alongside two baby girls who were not badly injured in the tragedy.

Social media posts have been flooding in for all involved in the accident.
