NPHET now say that things have taken a serious turn as the most recorded daily cases have been announced today.
Irish health authorities have reported official record figures that say that there have been 23,281 new infections confirmed in that period of time.
There currently are 656 people in hospital with severe coronavirus-induced disease. It’s not known how many of these are fully vaccinated.
It’s understood that 85 people are in ICU around the country.
It’s understood that Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer believes the true number could actually be as high as 30,000 cases.
