Local authorities have confirmed that five people have died after a car rammed pedestrians in the German town of Trier.
The incident unfolded at around 2pm local time, when a large SUV-type vehicle crashed into pedestrians around Trier’s city centre.
A nine-month-old baby is among the fatalities.
The driver of the car, a 51-year-old man believed to be from the locality, was arrested at the scene.
