President Donald Trump announced Sunday that the U.S. military has successfully rescued the second crew member from an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet shot down over Iran on Friday. In a Truth Social post, Trump declared, “WE GOT HIM!” describing the operation as “one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History.”
The highly respected colonel, who served as the weapon systems officer, evaded capture for more than a day while behind enemy lines in Iran’s treacherous mountains. Trump stated that, at his direction, dozens of U.S. aircraft armed with advanced weaponry were deployed to retrieve the airman, who sustained injuries but “will be just fine.” No Americans were killed or wounded in the mission.
This rescue follows the successful extraction of the jet’s pilot on Friday. Trump emphasized America’s commitment: “We will never leave an American warfighter behind.” The dramatic operation comes amid escalating tensions in the U.S.-Iran conflict, highlighting the military’s rapid response capabilities deep in hostile territory.
