Ryan Tubridy, the former highest-paid RTÉ employee, claims he was “thrashed” during a dispute over his pay and an undisclosed commercial deal struck by the national broadcaster, reports Breaking News.
As a result of the dispute, Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly, as well as senior executives and members of the RTÉ board, were summoned before the Oireachtas Crunch Committee, which was investigating the wider crisis at the broadcaster.
Ultimately, new director-general Kevin Bakhurst decided Tubridy would not return to RTÉ due to a “trust had broken down” following the former Late Late Show host’s statement regarding his earnings report.
In a podcast published on Monday, Tubridy said the scandal was “arguably the best thing that ever happened” due to his subsequent employment at Virgin Radio in London, reports Breaking News.
