Two Americans have been jailed for a whopping 20 years for alleged failed Coup in Venezuela

Venezuela has sentenced two Americans to 20 years in prison for their involvement in a failed coup attempt against President Nicolas Maduro.

According to Newsweek, Luke Denman and Airan Berry were former U.S special forces soldiers who had been recruited by Florida-based private security contractor Silvercorp USA.

With Venezuela on the brink of collapse and in the midst of a geopolitical storm, the two men were hired to work with a local militia to overthrow Maduro’s failed socialist regime.

They were captured alongside 45 men on a boat by Venezuela’s army, and have now been convicted. Maduro claims that the failed coup was sponsored by the US, though the Trump administration has denied any involvement.
