The Department of Foreign Affaris have confirmed that two Irish citizens who were on board the cruise ship Diamond Princess have tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Department said in a statement that the two, who were among six Irish citizens on board the ship, were being treated at a hospital in Japan and have been isolated.
The Department confirmed that the two people share dual citizenship with another EU member state and do not normally live in Ireland.
It’s understood that six Irish citizens were evacutated from the city of Wuhan in China, three of whom were evacuated on January 31 and the other three on February 9.
