Two young children rescued after drifting out to sea in two separate incidents off the West coast




Two young children were rescued following two separate incidents off the West coast on Thursday.

According to RTE News, a 5-year-old girl was rescued off the coast of Co Kerry after a lilo was swept out to sea from the Shannon Estuary.

It is understood that rescue crews from Irish Coast Guard helicopter 115 were called into the rescue the girl near Littor Beach.

RTE News reports that the young girl was taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment.

Meanwhile in a separate incident a 6-year-old boy was swept out whilst surfing at Renville, in Co Galway.

It is understood crews from Irish Coast Guard helicopter 118 along with lifeboats from Cliffden, were called in to rescue the boy.

Thankfully the boy was rescued and didn’t require medical attention once he was brought back ashore.
