UFC star Conor McGregor backs East Wall protesters who are fighting back against migrants in their community

Conor McGregor backed the East Wall protesters and said the new Taoiseach Leo Varadkar “should not be stepping in to lead our country”.

In recent weeks, residents of East Wall have staged major protests against the accommodation of around 400 asylum seekers in the area’s former ESB building.

When asked about the protests in a Twitter Q&A, the UFC star said: “I stand with the people of East Wall. And no I do not want to be a politician. Just that they have to answer to me.”

The UFC legend was also critical of hte new Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

“In my opinion, I have no problem with Michael [sic] Martin. I think he’s as friendly as space can get. Varadkar, different. He shouldn’t step in to lead our country.”
