UK braces for strikes as gov warn wages cannot keep up with inflation – Irish unions remain silent as usual

The UK Treasury has warned that British workers can no longer expect wage increases to keep up with the increasing rate of inflation.

Workers have lost almost £20,000 since 2008 because pay has not kept up with inflation, it has been claimed.

Sky News reported that Treasury Chief Secretary Simon Clarke has said matching salaries to inflation risked causing prices in the shops to surge even higher.

This situation in the UK is reflected in economies around the world and in Sri Lanka, a country which seems to be just months ahead of where the UK, Ireland and others in terms of inflation public anger erupted into the violent targeting of politicians.

The UK is bracing for mass transportation strikes however, unsurprisingly, in Ireland unions are yet to even voice strong concerns about inflations effects on the working and middle class of the country.
