UK issues sanctions for three high-ranking military personnel involved in the recent Myanmar coup

The UK has issued sanctions for three high-ranking military personnel involved in the recent Myanmar coup.

The UK alleges that three generals were involved in ‘human rights violations.’

The three individuals in question are the Minister of Defence, General Mya Tun Oo, the Minister for Home Affairs, Lt Gen Soe Htut, and the Deputy Minister for Home Affairs, Lt Gen Than Hlaing.

Myanmar’s democratically-elected Government was recently overthrown by a military coup that has plunged the country into a period of social unrest.
