The destruction of the Chonhar bridge linking Crimea with the Kherson region will force Russian supply convoys to use a far longer route that is well within striking distance of Ukraine’s HIMARS systems.
The Crimean Peninsula has very few ground links with the rest of the country, so the loss of the bridge is a major tactical victory for Ukraine, as convoys will have no choice but to use an alternative and more dangerous route.
Ukrainian gunners and partisan fighters will be eagerly awaiting the first convoys to get within range.
