Ukraine counter-offensive: Russia forced to desperately deploy its remaining best troops in southern sectors in a last-ditch attempt to halt the advance of the Ukrainian army

Russia has been forced to desperately deploy its remaining best troops in southern sectors in a last-ditch attempt to halt the advance of the Ukrainian army.

We reported yesterday that Ukrainian warriors are working to widen the breach of Russia’s first line of defence, formerly anchored in the town of Robotyne. Having driven a wedge there, Ukraine’s troops are now expanding the gap. In a desperate effort to counter this advance, Russia is hastily ferrying the elite 76th Guards Air Assault (VDV) Division to the area.

Recapturing Robotyne is tactically significant, as it provides Ukraine with a springboard from where to launch a decisive attack southwards, towards the Sea of Azov. This will have the effect of severing the land corridor between Crimea and Russia and isolating the Crimean Peninsula, which will soon be under total fire control by Ukrainian gunners.
