Western agencies have launched a probe into the possible use of chemical weapons by Russia in the Mariupol area.
Mariupol is a coastal city of vital strategic importance for Russia. If they capture it, they could be able to establish a supply corridor to Russia-friendly eastern areas of Ukraine.
The city has experienced heavy bombardment over the past four weeks.
If it is confirmed that Russia did use chemical weapons, ‘all options would be on the table,’ according to western allies.
