Ireland’s Government seemingly likes talking tough while doing nothing useful, as no weaponry will be sent to Ukraine, according to Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney.
According to the Government, Ireland is not ‘comfortable’ with the idea of helping other countries fight for their freedom. Ireland is doing the equivalent of shaking its emerald fist in the air in feigned outrage while quietly avoiding any accountability, and letting others do the defending.
Unelected Taoiseach Micheal Martin, who enjoyed bragging about his resolve to fight a cold virus, was recently the target of both national and international derision when he said that Ireland ‘needs to send a strong message’ to Putin, when in reality, Mr. Martin et al are doing what Ireland does best when push comes to shove: nothing.
