The Ukrainian military has performed a tactical retreat and allowed Russian forces to take control of a small and strategically insignificant town in Donbas.
Kreminna is, for the time being, in Russian hands, but Ukrainian forces are now entrenched elsewhere.
Russian forces are now desperately attempting to hold on to any ground so they can count anything as a victory, pyrrhic as it may be, as their losses so far have been colossal.
