Ukrainian collaborators have been spotted fleeing Ukraine with just the clothes on their backs ahead of an impending counter-offensive. Collaborators are well aware of their fate if the fellow countrymen they betrayed catch up with them.
Russian-installed local leaders in the towns of Oleshki and Skadovsk, sited on the Kherson region, were seen hastily climbing onto military trucks this week and hightailing it out towards Russian-controlled -for now- Crimea. Ukraine has made it clear that it intends to retake all of its territories, including the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia illegally annexed in 2014.
The United States supports the idea of Ukraine expelling all vestiges of Russian occupation from Crimea. To this end, Ukraine is assembling a large mechanized force that it will use to drive a wedge between Crimea and territories up north, effectively cutting off the Peninsula from the rest of the country. Ukraine probably intends to take out the Kerch Bridge -Putin’s pride and joy-, to ensure complete isolation of Crimea. Once that is achieved, armored columns can swing south and push the Russian army back. The Russians, with the Black Sea at their backs and cut off from the mainland, will be forced to surrender or be destroyed.
