The Ukrainian Embassy has confirmed it is offering consular support to the relatives of the Ukrainian teenager who was fatally stabbed at an emergency residential care facility in Dublin last week, reports RTE.
In an official release, the Embassy of Ukraine in Ireland stated that it is currently organising the repatriation of 17-year-old Vadym Davydenko’s remains to his home country, reports RTE.
Vadym lost his life following an altercation at a Tusla care unit located within an apartment block in Grattan Wood, Donaghmede.
He had only recently arrived in Ireland within the past few days.
The embassy mentioned that it is maintaining direct communication with An Garda SÃochána, which is leading the inquiry into the incident, reports RTE.
“We are also in regular contact with Vadym’s family. The results of the investigation will be shared with both the family and the embassy once available,” reports RTE
TUSLA notified the embassy yesterday about the tragic passing of the Ukrainian national.
“We express our deepest condolences to Vadym’s family and loved ones during this time of profound grief,” reports RTE
“At this time, the embassy will not be making further public comments. However, we remain in close cooperation with the Irish authorities and the family,” reports RTE

Tanya Ward noted that a significant number of Ukrainian teens come to Ireland alone, applying for international protection in order to avoid conscription due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, reports RTE.
She said the National Review Panel must examine the incident at the unit to identify any “learnings” or measures that could have been taken, though in many cases, she said, “nothing could have been done”, reports RTE.
Vadym received critical injuries to his head, face and upper body during the attack.
A post-mortem on his body is expected to take place later today, reports RTE.
A 17-year-old Somali boy, who also suffered injuries in the event but whose life is not at risk, is still being treated in hospital.
Two additional teenagers were targeted, but one of them managed to fend off the attacker.
A female staff member who attempted to step in sustained minor injuries, reports RTE.
The Taoiseach, Tánaiste, and Ministers for Justice and Children have all expressed condolences, described their shock and sorrow, and emphasised the importance of allowing gardaà the necessary time and space to carry out their murder investigation, reports RTE.
