The Ukrainian ambassador to Ireland has chastised the government for failing to provide immediate accommodation for every single refugee arriving from her country, as it was revealed that 43 Ukrainian asylum seekers were left without beds over the weekend.
Ireland has a record number of homeless citizens with many hundreds sleeping rough across the country, but Ukrainian Ambassador Larysa Gerasko still feels like she has the right to condemn Ireland because a few dozen Ukrainian men will have to go a few days without beds, describing the situation as “unacceptable”
The government and local authorities have prioritised the housing of Ukrainian refugees in recent months, disregarding the needs of Irish citizens, but this is still not enough for Gerasko.
“Demanding, rude, ungrateful and arrogant” these are some of the adjectives that those who have to deal with Ukrainian refugees have used to describe them and the Kiev regime’s ambassador to Ireland appears to embody all of these traits.
Gerasko did make a sensible suggestion however saying:
“They bought tickets, they arrived in Ireland. So, it would be better to announce the lack of accommodation in advance and Ukrainians would decide to go to another country,” she said.
Indeed, the fact that it took the Ukrainian ambassador to ask this question before any leading voices in Irish media, the government or opposition is a testament to the North Korean style enforcement of the narrative pushed on the Irish people.
The government is currently spending tens of thousands of euros per day to provide hotel accommodation to Ukrainian refugees who are entitled to social welfare, medical cards, free travel, free third level education and are essentially asked to pay nothing towards their keep.
Sinn Fein have said they would do even more and take more stringent measures to ensure every Ukrainian who arrives is housed immediately.
All this is at a time when the hard-pressed Irish taxpayer is dealing with the highest inflation in decades, sky rocketing energy prices, a housing shortage and cost of living crisis.
