According to official figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), unemployment in Ireland fell to below 8% in September, down 9.1% from the same time last year.
The figures say that the total number of males unemployed in September this year was 109,400, which marks a decrease of 3,500 when compared to the August 2016 figure of 112,900.
And the number of females unemployed was 63,500, a decrease of 3,800 when compared to August 2016.
