Up to 1 million people are expected to participate in Pope Francis’ visit

Up to 1 million people are expected to participate in Pope Francis’ visit over the coming days.

The Pontiff’s Mass in the Phoenix Park will see close to 600,000 people in attendance, some 400,000 short of Pope John Paul’s Mass there in 1979 but this is purely because of health and safety issues that are now in place and that see crowd restrictions in place.

Pope Francis will land in Dublin airport shortly after 10am tomorrow morning with a substantial entourage with him.

He’ll visit Fr Kevin at the Capuchin Homeless Centre later tomorrow afternoon before his celebratory Mass on Sunday.
