There’s going to be an almighty crowd in the town of Drogheda, Co. Louth over the coming week once again as the town will host the Fleadh for a second year in a row.

Arguably the biggest town in the country, Drogheda is hosting the Fleadh Cheoil with an estimated 600,000 extra people expected to stay in and around the town from the 11th to the 18th.

Permits are needed as roads will be cut off going in and out of the town with shuttle buses bringing people in from around a 1 mile radius.

It’s understood that the Fleadh have organised their own security to check permits rather than having a strong garda presence.

Some traders aren’t overly happy with a second Fleadh as their takings were down during the week last year.
