Updated guidance provided on alcohol buying times and policing arrangements for St. Patrick’s Day

In an updated announcement on St. Patrick’s Day, Gardai have said that they will be enforcing restrictions on alcohol sales in Dublin city centre.

According to the Irish Mirror, no off-licences will be allowed to sell alcohol in an area stretching from Parnell Square to St. Stephen’s Green until 4pm on St. Patrick’s Day.    Off-licences are allowed to sell alcohol from 10.30am from Monday to Saturday but that will change to 12.30pm on Sundays and St. Patrick’s Day.

The Licensed Vintners Association have said that pubs in Dublin will be operating their full permitted trading hours on St. Patrick’s Day – 12.30pm to 12.30am.

Gardai have also said that they will be putting a significant policing operation all over the city, right through the weekend, particularly given the numbers that are expected to attend the annual festival.
