In an excellent exhibition of what western aid to Africa is spent on it has been revealed that the destitute and starving nation of Zimbabwe spent almost €140,000 on powdered wigs for its judiciary.

The tin pot dictatorship whose leadership rails against European colonialism, ironically paid the money to its former Imperial master Britain for custom made, powdered wigs for its judges.

Zimbabwe, like many former British colonies, has maintained the comical English tradition of dressing its judges in wigs. The country’s government ordered 64 handmade horsehair wigs from Stanley Ley Legal Outfitters in London. Each wig costs over €2,300.

Zimbabwe has been grappling with food and medicine shortages as well as Weimar level rates of inflation.

The country, formerly known as Rhodesia, was at one time known as the “Breadbasket of Africa” but descended into chaos and destitution after communist insurgent Robert Mugabe seized power.

White people were violently driven from the land for the most part which collapsed the country’s food supply and today over two thirds of the population live in abject poverty.

In recent years the starving country has pleaded for white farmers to return however, these supplications have fallen on deaf ears.
