Urgent recall of children’s swim vests, which were sold in TK Maxx, due to drowning fears

A popular children’s swim vest has been urgently recalled due to safety concerns, reports The Mirror.

TJX Ireland Unlimited Company, which operates TK Maxx and Homesense stores in Ireland, issued the recall in cooperation with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

The recall was prompted after it was discovered that the product poses a drowning risk. The swim vests in question display an incorrect CE mark, as they have not undergone testing to meet necessary safety regulations, reports The Mirror.

A range of patterns and styles may be included in the recall. These feature designs such as whales, dinosaurs, sharks, starfish, unicorns, crabs, fish, juice floats, or seahorses. Some vests may also come with attached goggles, while others do not.

The following codes listed on the price tags identify the affected items: 819852, 819853, 819854, 819855, 819856, 819857, 819864, 819865, 819866, 819867, 819868, 819869, 819870, 819871, 819884, 819885, 819886, 819887, 819888, 819889, 819904, 819905, 819906, 819907, 819908, 819909, 819910, 819911, 819912, 819913, 819914 and 819915, reports The Mirror.

As reported by the CCPC, there are around 153 affected items in circulation within the Republic of Ireland. These were available for sale between April and August of this year.

Anyone who has bought one of the impacted swim vests is advised to stop using it immediately. The product can be returned to any TK Maxx or Homesense outlet for a complete refund.

Customers who have further questions about the recall can contact TK Maxx either by email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or by calling 01 2476126, reports The Mirror.
