A group of US Army engineers have been greenlighted to begin the planning and construction phases of the now infamous wall along the US-Mexico border.
The wall is understood to be 57 miles in length, with an average height of 18ft.
The structure will span Yuma, Arizona and El Paso, Texas. All these areas have recently seen an upsurge in crossings, or attempted crossings, mostly by families seeking asylum in the US.
The project has an associated price tag of about $1bn.
