Rockland County in New York has taken the rather unprecedented step of banning the presence of unvaccinated minors in public spaces.
The move is in response to a huge spike in measles cases in the area. The outbreak, which began in October of last year, has seen 153 cases across the county so far. This is the longest measles outbreak in the United States since the disease was declared eradicated back in 2000.
Measles is a hugely contagious disease that can be easily prevented through regular vaccination, and yet, health officials have met with huge resistance when approaching communities where children are known to lack the proper vaccines.
