US state of Georgia passes Bill that will ban abortions once a fetal hearbeat has been detected

The US state of Georgia has past a new Bill that would ban almost all abortions once a fetal hearbeat has been detected.

Under the new laws, the state will ban any abortion once a heartbeat is detected which is usually around six weeks.

According to reports in the US, the Bill which is backed by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, passed by 34 votes to 18.

The Bill which is expected to go before the House to approve senate changes will change the current state law which allows abortions up until 20 weeks.

However the Bill does state an abortion can be carried out after six weeks in the case of rape or incest, but an official police report must be filed before any abortion can take place.
