According to various of reports in the US it is understood that the American Psychiatric Association (APA) has officially confirmed that those who are obsessed with taking ‘selfies’ may suffer with a mental disorder.

In a rather strange diagnosis leading psychiatrists have bizarrely named the condition selfitis, psychiatrists believe that anyone who takes regular selfies may suffer with a form of obsessive compulsive disorder. They also say one’s desire to take photos of one’s self and post them on social media is a way to make up for the lack of self-esteem and to fill a gap in intimacy.

According to the official website site the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the new disorder may contain different levels and sufferers may experience different symptoms. Psychiatrists say those who suffer with Borderline selfitis will take photos of one’s self at least three times a day but will not post them on social media,

Apparently people who suffer with Acute selfitis will a take photos of one’s self at least three times a day and will post each of the photos on social media. Whilst those who suffer with Chronic selfitis will uncontrollably have the urge to take photos of one’s self throughout the day and post the photos on social media more than six times a day.

So if you think someone is extraordinarily vain you may just have been proven wrong as “selfitis” has just been proven to be officially a psychological condition. What do you think?
