Varadkar: I’ve absolute confidence in Minister for Health Simon Harris

There’s immense pressure on Minister for Health Simon Harris to get the door once and for all as a shameful Minister for Finance.

Harris knows for close to 6 months about the new children’s hospital overspend, and that’s not evening mentioning the diabolical shambles of the scandal is Cervical Check.

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that he has absolute confidence in the Health Minister despite the ongoing debate surrounding his position in wake of National Children’s Hospital overspend fiasco.

According to RTÉ News, the Taoiseach who was speaking in Belfast, said that he fully supports Minister Harris as he acted appropriately in regards to the handling of the overspend.

Mr Varadkar also said the Health Minister was someone who delivered as a minister and claimed that he would have done exactly what Minister Harris did when it came to disclosing information about the overruns.

The Taoiseach’s comments come after the Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald called for the removal of Minister Harris from his position.

It is believed that McDonald wrote to the Fianna Fáil leader Mícheál Martin asking him to clarify his party’s position on the matter.

McDonald said that the Health Minister’s position has become untenable and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Brexit shouldn’t be an excuse to tolerate incompetence.
