Varadkar: The people may accept that the cost-of-living crisis could last years

The Tánaiste Leo Varadkar told the Dáil that the cost of living crisis could go on for years.

During Leaders’ Questions, Varadkar said the issue is something that people will be grapping with for months, if not years, to come.

HG went on to say that the “global inflation crisis” would not end with any budget, be it a pre-autumn emergency budget or an autumn budget.

He responded to Sinn Féin finance spokesman Pearse Doherty, who said many parents had a “sense of dread” about the cost of going back to school, with one woman saying it would cost €1,700.
