The recent spell of freezing weather may be gone, but Ireland is in for a period of unsettled weather, with thundery showers and hail forecast for the next 48 hours.
Temperatures are rising this week, hovering at 12-13C at times, but there’s a lot of rain on the way this afternoon, particularly across western areas. The east side of the country will remain relatively dry, with good sunny spells, but showers will spread eastwards towards evening.
It will cold again tonight, with temperatures falling to just above freezing at times.
The outlook is for a period of very changeable and unsettled weather lasting into the weekend, with wet and windy conditions predominant on Friday and Saturday.
