Vintners Association say that they’re being discriminated against because they can’t reopen sooner

Ireland may be beginning to unwind its lockdown but it’s going to take months and months until any form or real normality comes back to what we’re used to.

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said that it’s going to be a very slow unwinding and that one of the last things that will be back open is pubs and nightclubs.

The Vintners Association say that they’re feeling discriminated against because hotels will be able to open but pubs will still not be able to.

Publican John Walsh spoke to The Liberal and said that “it’s not fair that we can’t open at a sooner time. We can easily social distance as good as hotels and large shops can”

“Personally I feel discriminated against and the VA do too. I know plenty of pub owners who are still going to try and open earlier than phase 5”.
