Violent traveller row breaks out in Finglas

A violent row which erupted last night between traveller groups in Dublin escalated this morning when armed Gardai were called to the scene.

The Avila Park halting site in Finglas was the scene for the scuffle late on Monday evening when groups of travellers from Finglas and Coolock squared up to each other.

The unrest continued into this morning when at least 20 Garda vehicles arrived at the scene. The Cappagh Road was closed for some time while Gardai restored calm to the site.

One person received head injuries during the row last night but Gardai managed to control the argument today before anyone else could be hurt.
