Virgin Atlantic has filed for bankruptcy in the US, in a move designed to ensure the airline’s survival.

According to the airline’s legal time, filing for bankruptcy is a requirement for a proposed rescue package.

Virgin Atlantic, which mostly operates long-haul flights, has been hit hard by the pandemic, forcing the company to shed as many as 3,000 jobs, and the closure of its Gatwick base.
