In what can only be described as truly ridiculous, there have been calls to rename Orwell Road in Dublin to “Independent Ukraine Road” – due to the Russian Embassy being situated halfway up the road.
Over the past two weeks, there’s been continuous protests outside the Russian Embassy with people holding placards denouncing the conflict in Ukraine.
Now, campaigners are challenging residents to get behind the proposed change and for the council to officially change the 150-yr-old name from Orwell Road to “Independent Ukraine Road”.
It’s understood that the vast number of residents and locals in the area oppose the name change.
