In yet another indictment of just how disdainful and lackadaisical the Government is in relation to protecting its citizens, a debt collection agency has been found to be writing to a two-year-old demanding money.
It is understood the toddler had to be brought to the A&E Dept. in Portiuncula, as he could not get a doctor’s appointment in time.
The hospital then turned on the family behind the scenes and engaged a debt collection agency to demand payment for having the audacity of attending A&E without a doctor’s letter.
In response to the debt collection agency’s affront, local senator Terry Leyden said: “I think in the circumstances, I ask you minister, that this matter should be resolved and waived because quite frankly the bill has been sent to the child, and the child is only two years of age and does not have €100 and the family are not in a position to pay it as well.”
