An 18-yr-old e-bike cyclist has been left with serious injuries after a collision involving a car in Waterford City.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on the Cork Road (R680) shortly before 8pm on Sunday, reports Breaking News.

The cyclist was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford and is being treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the car, an adult man, was examined at the scene but did not require hospital treatment, reports Breaking News.

The road has been closed to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out a technical examination, and local diversions remain in place.

Gardaí are urging witnesses to come forward, and are asking anyone with camera footage — including motorists with dash-cam recordings from the area at the time — to share it with investigators, reports Breaking News.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Waterford Garda Station on (051) 305300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
