Warnings issued a number of health supplements, branded sweets and breakfast treat recalled

Irish shoppers were hit with a wave of warnings this week as several popular products sold nationwide were removed from shelves over safety concerns.

On Monday, the Food Safety Authority Ireland (FSAI) announced a recall of all batches of Hello Kitty Apple Jelly strips, citing a potential “choking hazard”, reports The Mirror.

The affected items include all batch codes and best-before dates of Hello Kitty Apple Jelly strips in 150g packets.

Retailers have been instructed to remove the impacted batches from sale and display recall notices at points-of-sale, while consumers are advised not to eat the implicated sweets, reports The Mirror.

Rosabella Moringa capsules

The FSAI also recalled certain batches of Rosabella Moringa 100% Pure capsules due to a possible presence of Salmonella.

This US product, sold in Ireland as a herbal supplement, comes in white plastic bottles containing 60 capsules per pack, and the affected batches have best-before dates ranging from 03/2027 to 11/2027, reports The Mirror.

Consumers are advised not to consume the affected batches, as Salmonella can lead to serious illness.

The FSAI said: “People infected with Salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between six and 72 hours, reports The Mirror.

“The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts four to seven days. Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission, reports The Mirror.

“The elderly, infants and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness,” reports The Mirror.

Wholesalers and distributors have been asked to contact affected customers to recall the batches and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to retailers.

Retailers are requested to remove the batches from sale and display notices, while consumers are warned not to eat the implicated products, reports The Mirror.

Ketoclassic 3:1 Porridge, Muesli and Savoury

The FSAI issued warnings regarding certain batches of Ketoclassic 3:1 Foods for Special Medical Purposes (FSMPs), which may pose a health risk to some consumers.

The watchdog said that allergens listed in the ingredient declarations of the affected products are incorrectly declared.

This could make the products unsafe for people allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten (wheat), sulphur dioxide and sulphites, and/or milk, and these consumers have been advised not to eat the implicated batches, reports The Mirror.
