Panda and Greenstar, two of Ireland’s most successful bin companies, have announced that they are set to merge.
Panda signed a deal to buy rival Greenstar’s refuse collection and processing unit which is the basis for the merge. However, this deal does not include Greenstar’s landfill power generation assets and is also subject to approval by the Irish competition authorities.
The planned tie-up has been notified to the Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC). It is hoped that this deal will create a leading Irish owned and managed waste collection, processing and recycling business in the future.
