The Quadrantid meteor shower may enter its peak of activity tonight and tomorrow night, giving stargazers a good show to watch.
The event normally goes on from late December to about January 10, but it is at its most intense on January 3 and 4.
The Quadrantids come from Asteroid 2003 EH1, which is bound to a solar orbit. The sun’s radiation heats the space rock and causes debris to shed off it, which in turn burns in Earth’s atmosphere and produces the illusion of ‘shooting stars.’
Irish skies are likely to be rather overcast tonight though, so you might miss out.
