Water charge rallies get underway nationwide

The popular uprising against the wretched water charges continues with renewed strength today, as 30 plus protest marches get underway all across the country.

The biggest protest will take place in Dulin, starting at 2pm in the city centre, while other events elsewhere are already underway.

The protests have been organized by the Right2Water Campaign, and spokespeople for the organization have said that they intend to keep the water charges issues at the top of the agenda ahead of the upcoming election.

David Gibney of Right2Water has said that: “Today, 30 different locations all over the country will have tens of thousands of people on the streets saying once again to this Government who are refusing to listen to protestors that water charges are unfair and what we want is to go back to paying for our water through general taxation which is progressive and fair.”
