Water charges scrapping: The fallout

irish_water

After the acting Government’s capitulation on water charges, questions arise as to what will happen with those people who did pay the bill.

Minister Richard Bruton has said that ‘those who paid should get their money back,’ as they did their ‘civic duty.’

Nevertheless, it is unlikely that any refunds will be issued in the immediate future, if ever. The minister also said that those who did not pay will be chased for payment, although by whom and in what form, remains unclear.

The future of Irish Water staff is now also in jeopardy, as there will be no work left for them to do.
